Editing an Existing Contact

If you had an existing Google account with contacts, those names and email addresses will already be stored on your mobile phone. If you need to store more information about your contact,or if you need to change something in a contact, follow these steps to edit an existing contact:

1. Press the Menu button and tap Edit contact (or touch and hold your finger on the con- tact and then touch Edit contact on the pop-up menu).

2. Tap the More Info button. You have five groups of labels to select from:

• Phone:  The phone labels available are the same ones you see when you create a new contact. The Other label allows you to create your own label, such as “Dad’s Vacation Home in Reno.”

• Email: The email labels are the same ones available when you create a new con- tact.As with the phone labels, you can create your own custom label.

• IM: If your contact has an IM address, you can specify it here.

• Postal Address: It probably comes as no surprise that this option lets you put in a postal address of either the Home,Work,Other,or Custom variety.

• Other: Other provides two options,Organization and Note.Organization allows you to input a company name and position title.Note lets you add some notes to the contact.

3. To save your changes, press the Menu button and touch Save

You’ll notice that when you press the Menu button, you have a few other options

• Discard changes: This simply undoes all the changes you just made.Any information that was previously saved in the contact is preserved.

• Delete contact: This does exactly what you’d expect—it deletes the contact.

• More info: This option performs exactly like the More info button within the contact itself.

• Add icon: This option also performs exactly like the Add icon button within the con- tact.It allows you to specify an icon for the contact.

Now that you have a bunch of information on your contact,we can look at doing something with that contact.
