Using Songs as Ringtones

You’re listening to music, and a song comes up,and you think to yourself,“That song reminds me of my best friend.I wish my phone could sound like that every time she calls me.”

Your thought is our command.Well, okay,it’s the phone’s command;we’re just here to tell you about it.

First you need to select the song as your default ringtone.Don’t worry if you don’t want the song to play for every incoming call from every contact. This is just a temporary measure to add the song to the list of available ringtones.Tap and hold the song’s name, and choose Use as phone ringtone. You see a message letting you know that the phone’s ringtone has changed.Follow these steps to complete the process:

1. Head back to Settings (on the Application tab) and tap Sound & display.

2. Tap Phone ringtone, and choose a ringtone to use as the default.

3. You’re almost back where you started.Press the Home button to exit the Settings application.

The last part of the process is to actually associate your chosen song with a particular contact. To do this, follow these steps:

1. Open your contacts, and scroll to the contact you want.

2. Tap and hold the contact’s name, and then choose Edit contact from the pop-up menu.

3. Scroll down to the Other information section.

4. Tap the Ringtone drop-down to select a custom ringtone for the contact.Tap OK when you’re done.

5. Press the Menu button, and tap Save to save your changes.
